The compounding pharmacists who have expanded their practice into the field of aseptic techniques must be USP 797 compliant.
This course is designed to provide the participant with USP compliance strategies as well as assess the processes currently being used during the pharmacists’ aseptic procedures.
The laboratory portion of this program is conducted in a sterile environment.

This ACPE accredited certificate program will provide 16 hours of live programming.
The two day live program will consist of lecture, group discussion, and compounding of sample medications in a sterile laboratory environment.
The course is conducted in conjunction with consultant faculty from the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy and the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy.

The goal of this program is to assist independent pharmacists and/or pharmacy technicians who are practicing sterile compounding, in understanding and developing strategies for compliance with USP Chapter 797.
The objective of the instruction is to validate the participant’s current aseptic technique practices and procedures.
Verification will be made on the technique used to prepare sterile medications, identifications of parameters for sterility and a review of guidelines which govern preparations of sterile medications.

At the end of this program the participant will be able to:

Develop strategies for compliance with USP Chapter 797.
Perform a media fill challenge appropriate for the level of aseptic compounding.
Understand and perform the USP Sterility Test.
Understand and perform the Bacterial Endotoxin Test (BET) including how to calculate a maximum valid dilution for an aseptically compounded product.
Understand the validation necessary to assure sterilization by steam.

The ACA Re-certification Program in Aseptic Compounding Techniques has been approved for a total of 16 live programming contact hours (1.6 CEUs).
Continuing education statements of credit will be awarded at the conclusion of the course or completion of the independent study course.
Certificates of achievement will be issued at the completion of both segments of the program.
The ACA is approved by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education as a provider of continuing pharmaceutical education.

The American College of Apothecaries Research & Education Resource Center is located just outside of Memphis, TN.
Attendees may fly into Memphis or into Little Rock, AR.
It is approximately a two-hour drive from Little Rock to Memphis.
Downtown Memphis is a 20 to 25 minute drive from the ACA location.
Famous Beale Street Blues clubs as well as other activities are located in downtown Memphis.
For Elvis fans, Graceland is approximately 2 miles from the Memphis airport.
