Pain Management

Certificate Program in Compounding for Pain Management

Application Form

Course Format
-----------------------------

The advent of new technologies and demand for customized care requires the compounding pharmacist to do more than hand-roll suppositories and hand-pack capsules. This course will review contemporary prescription compounding techniques and provide hands-on training utilizing the newest equipment and technologies. An independent study component of the course will review guidelines of cancer pain and pharmacologic interventions for chronic neuropathic pain.

This ACPE accredited certificate program combines 12 hours of live programming with 4 hours of independent study. The two-day live program will consist of review of the independent study, lecture, group discussion, and actual compounding of sample medications in the laboratory. The independent study portion of the program is to be completed prior to the live program. The course is conducted in conjunction with consultant faculty from the University of California at San Francisco School of Pharmacy and the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy.
