This aliphatic alpha diol analog, also known as 1,2-dihydroxypropane, presents as a colorless to almost colorless liquid. It is known to be miscible in acetone, chloroform, and water, and soluble in ether and benzene. Store in a cool and dark place. 1,2-Propanediol is incompatible with oxidizing agents and should not be handled near them. This chemical causes eye irritation.
