2-Deoxy-D-glucose, Reagent (2-DG) is a glucose molecule which acts to inhibit glucose-6-PO4 from glucose at the phosphoglucoisomerase level. It has the 2-hydroxl group that replaces hydrogen which inhibits further glycolysis. 2-DG has been used as a targeted optical imaging agent for fluorescent in vivo imaging. The Reagent grade denotes that this chemical is the highest quality commercially available and that the American Chemical Society has not officially set any specifications for this material. Spectrum Chemical manufactured Reagent grade products meet the toughest regulatory standards for quality and purity.
