Ketoconazole, USP is a synthetic antifungal medication that is used primarily to treat fungal infections. While its use as an oral tablet has been discontinued in many countries due to concerns that it caused serious liver injury, it is still used in a variety of topical administrations such as creams, which are used to treat tinea, candidal paronychia, and pityriasis versicolor and in shampoos used primarily to treat seborrheic dermatitis (dandruff). The USP grade indicates it is graded suitable for personal care, cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications. All Spectrum Chemical USP grade products are manufactured, packaged and stored under current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) per 21CFR part 211 in FDA registered and inspected facilities.
